Arrangements have been made whereby the bodies of Solomon Lusk, Sr., his wife and their son, John will be moved from their resting place on the Lusk estate to Bethany Cemetery near Marshall. The heirs of the estate have purchased a lot there and the contract for the work of moving the bodies and for the erection of memorials to them, has been let to a Danville, Illinois firm. The work of the removal of the bodies ie expected to be commenced at once. A marker will also be placed in the lot in memory of Solomon Lusk, Jr. who lost his life in the Civil War and whose burial place is unknown. - Marshall News - typed by kbz

Memorial services for Capt. Salmon Lusk of the War of 1812 will be held at the Bethany Cemetery at Marshall on Sunday July 19 at 3 p.m. as announced by Capt. Lusk's great great granddaughter, Mrs. Bennett V. Morris, state president of the National Society Daughters of the War of 1812. The services will be conducted by the Tippecanoe chapter of NSUSD 1812 with Rev. John Howard speaking.

Capt. Salmon Lusk was born April 17, 1788 at Castleton, Vt the son of Samuel Lusk of the Revolutionary War and his wife, Naomi Bryant.  Capt. Lusk came with a Vermont regiment to Vincennes under Gen. Harrison during the War about 1816.  After the war he liked Indiana and first had a farm in Vigo County.

He married Mary Beard, daughter of John Beard and they moved to Parke County where he died Aug 28, 1869.  Part of his land is now what is Turkey Run State Park.  Capt. Salmon Lusk and Mary Beard Lusk had the following children:  William Lusk who married Sarah Davis; Lydia Lusk who married William Housten Brown; Susan Lusk who married a Mr. Porter; Elizabeth Lusk who married Jacob C. Brewer; John Lusk, unmarried; Salmon Lusk Jr killed at Thompson's Station 85th Regt Inf Co A Civil War and Mary Lusk  who married Simeon Clore. - typed by kbz
